Dermlite Lumio 2 polarized examination lens 100mm aspherical VIS-WOOD-UV

DermLite Lumio 2 is the ideal examination lens for general skin examinations , where a deep, reflection-free image is essential.

Its 100mm aspheric lens offers 2.3x magnification and five illumination modes: cross-polarized white, 365nm ultraviolet , 385nm, 405nm, and Wood. The light intensity is adjustable on three levels for each mode, up to 10,000 lx in white light mode.

Lumio 2 is a great tool for many dermatological exams: varicose veins, pigmented skin lesions, hair follicles and many others.

Lumino 2 also includes an additional lens that increases magnification by 2.5 times and a 495nm low pass filter to improve the contrast of fluorescent details.

Lumio 2 is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery which guarantees a minimum of 250 exams of 30 seconds each.

Wavelength information

365 nm and 385 nm are primarily used to map surface pigmentation and high blood volume areas on the upper 0.1 mm of the skin. In other words, these UV colors are largely absorbed by the epidermis, so pigmentation and surface vascularization are highlighted by these UV frequencies. Pre-AK and BCC appear as darker areas, while lack of pigment as in vitiligo can appear brighter than surrounding areas.

Having both 365 and 385 nm wavelengths allows for differential visualization of interactive disease with higher versus lower frequency UV light. At both frequencies there is a fair amount of autofluorescence in tissues containing porphyrins.

The 405 nm wavelength is primarily used for use with ALA fluorescence imaging of BCCs and AKs. The presence of ALA uptake in skin lesions will fluoresce with a reddish hue. To best see this red fluorescence, use the included low pass filter to block the 405 nm reflected from the skin.
